The latest handheld aptly named the ‘Nintendo Switch 2’ revealed by Nintendo on Thursday was a surprise to nobody after leaks of the system were rampant over the internet for months before the official unveiling. But are Nintendo still holding some cards close to their chest?

Mouse Functionality?
A Joy-Con doubling as a mouse is a widely contested potential feature among Switch 2 fans. Many believe it to be an unnecessary addition to the tried and true formula of the original 2017 Switch, however, those who think of it as an evolution have speculated that in the reveal trailer an extra feature on the side of the right Joy-Con (outlined in the below image) may be an optical sensor to allow usage of the controller as a mouse for FPS titles, also giving weight to rumours of more mature titles such as Call of Duty or Read Dead Redemption 2.

Magnetic Controllers?
Does this mean that you can store your spare controllers on the fridge? Well, maybe. Probably not though. What we’re talking about is the actual connectivity to the main system, or screen, if you like. If you go to the official Nintendo website there is a short video of different scenes with a 3D model of the switch 2 that will play as you scroll. In one section of the video however you may notice a small circular area at the top part of the Joy-Con (outlined in the below image). Fans believe this to be a magnetic attachment to help connect the controllers to the Switch 2. The circular piece will extend when the trigger is pressed to assist in removal of the gamepad.
